FaceBook Valuation Now Worth $8 Billion

Mark May over at Needham wrote a research report stating FaceBook could be worth more than it was 12 months ago. Nice quarterbacking there Mark. I don't disagree with you. I think FaceBook could be worth as much as Yahoo itself. :-)

Everyone, Facebook is worth what people think it's worth. Period.

At this moment Facebook is really worth $15B and that's it.

But it is also worth less if you look at it from the market valuation side.

The reason Microsoft value Facebook at $15B is becaue they control the ad space on Facebook. They will make great returns on their investment. It has nothing to do with stupid P/E valuations. Nothing at all.

It clearly shows how non-educated people are who commentate this deal with Microsoft.

Once and for all: There is a HUGH difference between "strategic valuation" and "market valuation".

Surely, on the market Facebook would be valued far lower. But from a strategic standpoint this valuation is as sane as anything else.
