AdOn Network - A Deadbeat Online Advertising Company

posted by MR WAVETHEORY at 3/31/2007 02:18:00 AM
Being in the venture industry, I get alot of news about the online advertising industry. The sad story is that while the industry is growing, there are a large number of deadbeat online advertising companies that rip off publishers. I've used many advertising companies and I've come across a few in my experience as a blogger.

What is a deadbeat online ad company? It's a company that doesn't pay or that fraudulently reports impression counts.

Let me tell you the story of AdOn Network.

AdOn Network was previously known as MyGeek.com. It is run by Chad Little. They are one of the worst deadbeats. I have heard from readers that the company reports 1/10 to 1/8 of the impressions that it actually serves on a publishers website. Put that into perspective, that means if your site ran 10,000 impressions for AdOn Network, they would report to the publisher that you actually ran 1,000 impressions while they report to the advertiser that they ran 10,000 impressions. Got what I mean? Advertisers are charged 10,000 impressions and publishers are paid 1,000 impressions. They're ripping publishers off big time, by pocketing the revenues on those 9,000 missing impressions.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are many companies in the online ad space doing this, but this one certainly ranks as one of the more egregious frauds out there. Maybe that explains why they had to change their name :-) If you have an experience with an online ad company, I'm curious to hear. Write to me or comment. I can't wait to hear from you.

Hi,

I work for AdOn Network (I work in Business Development - publishers), and was given this link by someone.

While I could summarize why this isn't true (and will if you'd like - it usually has to due with terminated/defaulted ads), I'd rather be very objective and just have a chance to display the reporting and data that are omitted from the post. Thus, if given your PID, I can post what we show (obviously I'll edit out any advertiser names and any personal info relating to your account), which can be compared to the other reporting that is implied in this blog. This way it would be quite clear whether or not we are paying 1/10th of what we should be - no room for speculation required.

Email me at sberman@adonnetwork.com so I can help clear this up to all your readers. Thanks.

I would not recommend using Adon Network at all. I learned the hard way. After trouble with a campaign that was run at Adon Network, I came to learn that the account manager assigned to me was a convicted felon. What really blew my mind was the fact that this person was convicted of forgery and theft and was still on probation when he was hired. This person had to petition the court to get permission the use computers at work. Kind of gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling that this person had access to peoples credit cards. What makes it even worse, is the fact that Adon Network was aware of the felony conviction when they hired this person. Very comforting to know Adon Network sets the bar so high for its employees. Needless to say things went horribly wrong. My advice, stay as far away as you can from Adon Network.
