What I find amazing is that Sony decided to recall defective lithium ion batteries built into its own laptops only after Dell and Toshiba had announced them. Sony Corporation (NYSE SNE) would be the first one to know of any problems, yet they choose to be the last one to do anything about it. Now, read this carefully, the recall only covers computers sold in Japan and China. What about the US computers?
Sony Corp. said Tuesday it will recall up to 90,000 battery packs used in its Vaio notebook personal computers sold in Japan and China to alleviate customer concerns about overheating.
By the way, this is what a toasted Dell laptop looks like when you have a defective battery. It caused an entire office tower to be evacuated.
